UAL Creative Practice: Art, Design and Communication Diploma & Extended Diploma Level 3

Learn the necessary skills to start a career within the Creative Industry. You will have the freedom to develop your own particular areas of interest in the exciting field of art or design, through a combination of live projects and stimulating assignments.

You will acquire a range of practical and creative skills through the different art and design pathways:

Visual Communication - you will develop skills in a number of areas including typography, photography, digital graphic design, illustration, advertising, and moving image. You will work on exciting realistic projects that enable you to develop a portfolio of sensational work to successfully gain employment as a junior designer or progress onto an apprenticeship or University.

Art & Design - this broad-based course provides you with an opportunity to study a range of art and design subjects providing the building blocks needed to help you specialise in one of the following pathways in fashion & textiles, graphic design, 3D design or fine art.

3D Craft, Design & Architecture - this is hands on working in well-equipped, specialist workshop. Production of 3D prototypes exploring a range of materials, processes and ideas is supported by digital design and photography.

Awarded by UAL Awarding Body you will achieve a UAL Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design and Communication on completion of this course.

* Courses are free for 16-18s. Students aged 19 or over could be charged fees and is subject to a fee assessment. Learners on benefits in the majority of cases courses are also free. Fee assessments are completed at enrolment.

Course Length: 35 Weeks

You will need 4 GCSEs at 4 or above including English or maths. Alternatively you will need a Level 2 Diploma in a related subject at a Merit or Distinction grade. You will be asked to bring a portfolio of art and design work to interview to make sure this is the right course for you.

The course is 100% course work and you will produce work in 2D and 3D and time based media, research projects, sketchbooks, design sheets, evidence folders and photographs recording processes.

After completing your Diploma, you can progress onto a Foundation Diploma, Higher Education or employment. Depending on which pathway you choose job opportunities are:Visual Communication Pathway: Potential job opportunities within this area are vast and include game designers, book illustrators, web-designers and corporate design.Fashion & Textiles Pathway: Opportunities exist for you to work within the field of printed textiles, woven textiles, surface pattern, machine knit, fashion photography, fashion illustration, fashion design, theatrical costume, fashion promotion, trend predictions, pattern cutting and garment construction.3D Craft, Design & Architecture Pathway: You could work as a set designer for theatre, jewellery designer, furniture designer, an architect or in interior design.
