AM2 Assessment Centre

The AM2 Assessment Centre located at James Watt College, provides End Point Assessment (EPA) / Assessment of Occupational Competence (AOC) for Electrical Installation Level 3 apprenticeships and Experienced worker qualification routes.  In order to complete their qualifications candidates must pass all sections of the assessment.

We provide both AM2 and AM2S assessments at our centre, the latter being the newest form of the assessment to conform to the latest apprenticeship standards.

The AM2 assessment centre involves the following areas:

  1. Safe isolation and risk assessment
  2. Composite installation, including a variety of wiring systems with different terminations and connections (AM2S incorporates containment systems)
  3. Inspection, testing and certification
  4. Fault diagnosis and rectification
  5. Assessment of applied knowledge

Each section must be completed within a specified time; the whole assessment must be finished within 3 days at the centre.  Start time is 7.00am prompt until finish time approximately 2.30pm each day.

If candidates do not pass all sections first time they only re-sit the individual section/s.  Re-sits can be taken at any centre nationwide.

A refresher course is available if required to prepare candidates for the assessment, these are run on a Wednesday (usually the week before the assessment takes place).

Entry requirements

This is not a course it is an assessment, only candidates who have evidence of their NVQ level 3 portfolio completion can meet the entry requirements for the assessment. Assessments are booked by the candidates training provider/college assessor unless they are a mature candidate on an experienced worker course to obtain their NVQ Level 3 – these candidates can book directly.

Along with the NVQ level 3 evidence completion of a checklist is required to make sure the candidates are ready which is filled out with the training provider/college, once all evidence is confirmed by NET the candidate can be booked onto the assessment.
