Choosing to study this course you will have the opportunity to participate in a number of events including Football, Boccia, Paragames, Panathlon, Cricket, Tennis and delivery of secondary school PE lessons. There will be the opportunity to gain qualifications as a dodgeball leader, boccia leader and engage in events throughout the year with a variety of sports organisations.

This is a vocational based course where skills and knowledge are developed in real life industry-based environments. You will be required to show competencies through working with young people in primary and secondary school settings. Whilst planning, delivering and evaluating learners will also be required to produce a portfolio of evidence which will provide key requirements for an activity leader / sports coach.

Due to the vocational nature of the course all learners looking to complete the course will benefit from having a work placement in position prior to starting.

Previous trips have included Manchester United Football Club, City of Manchester Stadium, Wembley Stadium and also Woodlands Outdoor Adventurous Activities Camp.

* Courses are free for 16-18s. Students aged 19 or over could be charged fees and is subject to a fee assessment. Learners on benefits in the majority of cases courses are also free. Fee assessments are completed at enrolment.

Course Length: 35 Weeks

You will need 4 GCSEs at grade 3 including English and maths.  Level 1 sport qualifications will also be considered.

This programme is 100% course work which will include group projects, presentations, reports, professional discussions, event management and a portfolio of evidence.  Assessment will also include practical observations within a sports leadership / coaching environment.

Completion of this course will enable you to progress onto a level 3 BTEC Sports course as well as provide you with skills and knowledge to gain employment within the activity leadership / sports coaching industry.
