Sport & Active Leisure Diploma Level 1
If you enjoy playing or watching sport, and you’re looking to improve your performance, or want to make a career in sport, then this course is for you.
This course will introduce you to a side of the sports industry you may not have experienced before giving you an insight into the little things that make a big performance such as nutrition, psychology and fitness testing. You will study topics like fitness testing, practical sports performance and anatomy.
You will work closely with Level 2 Activity Leaders to assist in the planning and delivery of sports coaching sessions to young people at local secondary schools. Previous trips to support learning for this course have included Manchester United Football Club, City of Manchester Stadium, Wembley Stadium and also Woodlands Outdoor Adventurous Activities Camp.
You will complete units from a variety of sport related disciplines which upon completion will allow you to progress onto a more specialist pathway or continue to cover a broader spectrum at a higher level.
There is a balance of classroom based theory and practical activity. Theory lesson include activites involving labelling the skeletal system, creating diet plans and devising coaching sessions. Practical lessons involve participating in team and individual sports as well as exercising in the colleges gym.
