Preparing to work in Schools Award Level 1

This course is aimed to provide you with the suitable knowledge and understanding of introductory concepts surrounding working with children in a school to support their learning and well-being.
This is suitable for anyone who is considering a career working with children.

To achieve this course you will be required to successfully complete three units;
• Understand schools as organisations
• Understand how to keep children and young people healthy, safe and well
• Understand how to communicate with children, young people and adults

Entry Requirements

There are no specific entry requirements; however we would ask for learners to be working at minimum entry level 3 in literacy.

Delivery and Assessment

To be awarded the Level 1 learners must successfully complete written evidence for each unit; which will then be internally assessed to ensure competence.


This award prepares learners for progression routes onto either the Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching & Learning; or Level 2 Certificate in An Introduction to Early Years Education and Care
