Engineering Diploma Level 3

The course is an A-level equivalent study programme which allows you to develop your skills and knowledge in the field of Electrical/Mechanical Engineering. It offers a combination of theory and practice leading to a nationally recognised qualification which can provide a basis for higher level study or for employment in the engineering industry.

The first year of the course involves studying a range of subjects that cover the mechanical as well as electrical and electronic fields in the engineering sector. This qualification is equivalent to 1.5 A–levels in engineering.  The second year involves a range of subjects that cover the mechanical as well as electrical and electronic fields in the engineering sector that will grant the applicant an Extended Diploma in Engineering with 180 credits. The first and second years of the course are equivalent to 3 A–levels in engineering.

* Courses are free for 16-18s. Students aged 19 or over could be charged fees and is subject to a fee assessment. Learners on benefits in the majority of cases courses are also free. Fee assessments are completed at enrolment.

Course Length: 35 Weeks

Minimum 4 GCSE’s at grade 4 or above (must include Maths and English).  Level 2 Diploma in Engineering (Grade Merit or Distinction) and a report from the school/college showing excellence in attendance (must be 90% or above), punctuality and behaviour.

The course is coursework based with some in-class assessments. All assessments are internal. Coursework includes carrying out researches involving analysis, evaluation and mathematical calculations.  Each unit is graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction, dependent on work completed. You must make sure to bring notebooks, pens/pencils, scientific calculator, and drawing equipment to the college (mobile phone calculators are not allowed).

BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering providing a minimum of a grade MM, with at least 90% attendance. Or go on to start an apprenticeship, This course is equivalent to 1.5 A-level’s in overall value.
