Advanced Sports Photography

In this hands-on course you can expert to learn the secrets of sports photography through a range of practical opportunities and classroom taught sessions.

You can expect to learn the theory behind sports photography, pick up some tips and tricks and try your hand at capturing a range of different sports.

The course is designed to teach you some more advanced principles of using your camera and the art of photography.  The course will give you the confidence and knowledge to allow you to take full control of your camera which will allow you to create some interesting and unique images.

 

Running times

The course will take place over 6 weeks and will feature six Wednesday evenings from 6-8pm, there may be additional opportunities to capture some live sports action on other days during the period.

 

Required Equipment;

You must bring your own camera (any type and model of camera is acceptable)

In addition, you may benefit from bringing the following if you have it:

Long zoom lenses (300mm plus)

Additional lenses including a wide-angle lens and smaller telephoto lens

Tripod

Flash guns

Spare Memory cards

Spare battery

 

What skills will I develop?

You will be able to develop your technical knowledge of photography and learn how to apply your skills to fast-paced World of sport. You will also learn about advanced photography techniques and editing and be able to apply these skills in a selection of real-life photographic scenarios where you will be able to experience photography of sports.

·       You must bring your own camera (any type and model of camera is acceptable)

·       To attend this course, you must be aged over 19+ years.

·       It will be your responsibility to look after your own equipment and you may want to consider photography gear insurance prior to attending the course.

* Courses are free for 16-18s. Students aged 19 or over could be charged fees and is subject to a fee assessment. Learners on benefits in the majority of cases courses are also free. Fee assessments are completed at enrolment.

Course Length: 6 Weeks

No qualifications are required but you should have a keen interest in photography and have a basic grasp of shutter speed, aperture and ISO settings on your camera.  

There is no formal assessment. The course will take place over 6 weeks and will feature six Wednesday evening sessions (1800 – 2000) and two Saturdays.

This course is for recreation; however you can progress onto further photography qualifications.
