What will the apprentice be doing?
You will be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions. As an assistant you will have the opportunity to work on various sized Landscaping and Gardening Projects. Candidates required to assist with landscape installation projects and will be operating hand tools and power tools to complete gardening task
Duties will include:
•Keeping garden areas clean and free of debris and monitoring plant health to identify any pests or diseases.
•Collaborating with other team members to ensure the overall cleanliness and attractiveness of the property is maintained.
•Ensuring the successful completion of jobs, within agreed timescales and quality standards
•Identifying hazards, defects and the need for repair; to ensure compliance with agreed codes, law, working practices and health and safety.
•Adhering to all organisation policies and procedures.
The successful candidate will need an enhanced DBS allowing enabling the apprentice to be able to work in a school environment.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The successful apprentice will complete a full ‘Level 2 Horticulture or Landscape Construction Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard’.
(Horticulture Operative) Lantra Awards Level 2 Award in Safe Use of Pesticides OR City and Guilds Level 2 Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides.
The training will be delivered by Birmingham Metropolitan College on a day release basis.
Functional skills if required.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Successful apprentice will be offered a full time position with the company and the opportunity to progress to a Team Leader/Management role.
