This course is ideal for individuals who are looking to work in a care setting or are new to this area of work. The learning materials aim to provide students with all the necessary understanding needed to provide a high standard of care.

Achievement of this qualification could act as progression towards Level 3 or securing employment in the health and social care sector.  This course introduces you to the knowledge required to understand the role of a social care worker, the principles of personal development, person-centred approaches to care, issues of equality and diversity in care and principles of communication.

It explores the principles of diversity, equality and inclusion and communication in adult social care. You will also learn about safeguarding and protection of adults in care settings and the duty of care that you have as a care worker.

You will also cover handling information in care settings and health and safety issues. You will look at legislation and issues related to the secure handling of information. You will look at general aspects of health and safety and at issues related to manual handling, infection control, food safety, fire and other emergencies and workplace stress.

* Courses are free for 16-18s. Students aged 19 or over could be charged fees and is subject to a fee assessment. Learners on benefits in the majority of cases courses are also free. Fee assessments are completed at enrolment.

Course Length: 14 Weeks

You will be required to have level 1 English qualification or equivalent.

You will be assessed through assignments and there are no exams.

On the completion of this course you can either progress onto Level 3 or securing employment in the health and social care sector.
