Sport & Exercise Science Higher National Certificate/Diploma

The HNC Sport & Exercise Sciences course is a Level 4 Higher Education course designed to further enhance skills and knowledge gained at Level 3 (A Level). The course provides students with a broad range of units that enable them to progress to the HND Sport & Exercise Sciences in year two and be better prepared to work in Sport & Exercise Sciences. This course is a mixture of both practical and theoretical units with assessment and grading coming from internal assessments. The majority of the work you will do will involve written assessments, practical work and presentations. This course is designed to provide a platform for anyone wishing to enter the varied and exciting field of sports and exercise science. The course aims to introduce students to the theory and practical application of sports and exercise science in various environments and is designed to assist students into a wide range of careers, but with a particular focus on sports rehabilitation and massage, fitness development and healthy lifestyle development.

Studying will take place in a range of settings with modules being taught not just in the classroom, but also in our fitness gym, sports hall or massage suite. In addition to traditional studying methods, students will also be encouraged to use personal study time with online materials to help enhance understanding and learning throughout the course.  Other opportunities available for those on this programme could include additional qualifications to boost employment potential. For example, studying additional qualifications like sport massage therapy, fitness instructor or taping and strapping qualifications.

You will study a HNC (level 4) course in year one and then have the option to top this up to HND (level 5) in the following year.

Annual and modular tuition fees shown are applicable to the first year(HNC)of study. The College reserves the right to increase fees for subsequent years of study (HND) in line with increases in inflation (capped at 3%) or to reflect changes in Government funding policies or changes agreed by Parliament.
