Students made up to be fundraising at Birmingham Zombie Walk

The students from Sutton Coldfield College, part of BMet College are offering make-up packages to everyone at the event taking place on Saturday 8 August in aid of Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

“This is the second year running that we will be making faces at the event,” said lecturer, Emma Buet. “It’s an opportunity for the students to stretch themselves creatively through a variety of grisly facial features. The event atmosphere is incredible so it will be great fun for everyone.”

Emma Whitehouse-Bird is one of the student make-up artists supporting the event. “I was here last year and jumped at the chance to come and take part again,” said the 18-year-old. “Practicing make-up skills on people you don’t know builds up your confidence and encourages you to try out new things.

“Zombie Walk Birmingham is a really enjoyable event. It’s lovely seeing thousands of people come together and be a bit more outgoing because of the way they look and of course because they all want to support the hospital.”

Miranda Williams, Public Fundraising Manager at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “We want to say a massive thank you to the students from Sutton Coldfield College for getting involved in this year’s Zombie Walk Birmingham.

“Not everyone has the confidence or is as skilled at make-up as the students and so their support is truly invaluable as it helps bring everyone together and make the event visually striking.

“There is still plenty of time for people to get involved simply visit the website to purchase a ticket.”

The students will be offering make up packages from between £5 and £25.
