Matthew Boulton College to host virtual Open Day

Twelve hours, one college, lots of tweets – access all areas!

That’s the promise from Matthew Boulton College who are giving unprecedented access to followers on Twitter and Instagram on Tuesday 22 May.

In a first, the college is inviting people to sample a taste of college life in a 12 hour tweet-a-thon and what it is dubbing an insta-on.

Starting at 6:30am on Tuesday 22 May and ending 12 hours later, the team at Matthew Boulton College will share a day in the life at the college via a series of tweets on twitter and photos on Instagram.

The aim is to give real insight into life at this bustling college in the heart of Birmingham city centre.

From students frantically handing in course work, to those revising for the summer exams, to musicians bursting into song, a lot can happen in 12 hours at the college.

The virtual open day is ahead of an actual open event on Saturday 16th June where people can visit and see the college for themselves between 10am-1pm.

BMet Principal, Andrew Cleaves, said: “We welcome over 20,000 students everyday across all four main college sites – but many Brummies of all ages actually have not stepped foot in a college environment for years.

“We thought this would be a fun way to show people what college life is like today and show what we have to offer all our students and potential new ones.

“I’d encourage people to tune in – you may be surprised by how much has changed about college life and what has actually remained the same!”

Tune in on twitter (@BMetC) and Instagram (@bmetcollege) between 6:30am – 6:30pm on Tuesday 22 May.  #BMetlife
