BMet director wins top level finance award

BMet’s Chief Financial Officer has been officially recognised as having the highest level of financial prowess and expertise in the region after winning a highly sought-after industry award.

Martin Penny beat off stiff competition to obtain the Finance Director of the Year award (not-for-profit) at the annual 2019 “West Midlands Finance Awards”, after impressing a rigorous judging panel.

The prestigious “black tie” event took place at the International Conference Centre on December 5. The ceremony was held to promote and celebrate the outstanding achievements of businesses and individuals within the West Midlands’ finance community.

Speaking of his win, Martin, who joined only two other employees selected across the region to be put forward for the award said:

“I am over the moon and feel very grateful to receive my award and to be officially known as the leading ‘not-for profit’ finance director in the west midlands area.

“I am extremely grateful to my colleagues and to the judging panel, who appear to have seen something in me that they feel is deserving of obtaining this award.

“It was an absolute honour and privilege for me to attend the prestigious ceremony and to be amongst like-minded people, covering such a wide range of financial expertise. It was a mutually beneficial opportunity for me to share the evening with friends and colleagues, whilst networking with the Midlands leading finance professionals.”

The Finance Director of the Year award is granted to employees who are able to demonstrate legacy of delivery in financial performance, leadership and management.

Along with the other nominees, Martin had to clearly highlight and evidence examples of strategic direction in his company, to win the award.
