Ifeoluwa’s engineering success leads to “student of the year award!”

Inspirational learner, Ifeoluwa, has completed his Level 2 engineering course with a “student of the year award” at BMet’s 2025 Student of the Year Awards – which celebrates student success.

The talented electrical installation student has achieved the accolade as a result of his hard work and determination.

Ifeoluwa was rewarded after continually demonstrating  extraordinary growth, determination, and leadership throughout his time on the Level 2 Electrical Installation course.

Beginning his studies without any GCSEs, he embraced every opportunity to improve, achieving a Grade 5 in his Maths resit and distinctions in key vocational units.

His academic progress is matched by an outstanding 95% attendance record and a proactive, mature approach to learning that has made a lasting impact on both staff and peers.

Beyond his own achievements, Ifeoluwa has contributed significantly to the learning environment at James Watt College. He regularly supports other students in class, maintains a clean and safe workspace and has taken initiative in developing new, cost-effective training resources.

His idea to break down larger training tasks into smaller, more manageable units not only improved learner engagement but also helped reduce material waste.

With the support of staff and fellow student Audbury, he also designed and built new sample boards now proudly displaying the motto: “created by a learner, for the learner.”

Ifeoluwa’s creativity, reliability and drive to improve both himself and the experience of others make him an exceptional role model and a truly deserving nominee for Learner of the Year.
