Property Maintenance Operative Appenticeship (Level 2)

This hands-on apprenticeship is perfect for individuals who enjoy practical work and problem-solving. You’ll learn how to maintain and repair a variety of properties, gaining skills across trades like plumbing, electrics, carpentry, painting and decorating, and general building maintenance.

Gain real-world experience in settings such as homes, schools, hospitals, and retail spaces. You’ll learn how to keep buildings safe and functional, understand health and safety regulations, and develop strong customer service skills. With support from experienced tutors, you’ll work towards a Level 2 qualification.

* Courses are free for 16-18s. Students aged 19 or over could be charged fees and is subject to a fee assessment. Learners on benefits in the majority of cases courses are also free. Fee assessments are completed at enrolment.

Course Length: 35 Weeks

GCSE grade D/3 or above in English and Maths, or Level 1 Functional Skills. If you don’t have GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent, you’ll need to work towards Level 2 English and Maths. Employers may also set their own criteria based on the role.

Delivered one day a week (currently Wednesdays) at Erdington Skills Centre. The programme lasts 24 months, including a 3-month end-point assessment. Assessment includes a knowledge and skills exam and a professional discussion supported by a portfolio of evidence.

Progress to Level 3 Construction apprenticeships, further employment, or gain a CSCS card. You can explore career pathways using the Occupational Progression Map.
