English Literature A Level

A Level English Literature is an exciting and important qualification that helps you develop analytical, interpretive and communication skills. It’s ideal for students who enjoy reading, exploring ideas, and thinking critically about language and meaning.

You’ll study a wide range of texts from different historical periods, learning how to analyse, compare and interpret literature. You’ll explore how meaning is constructed and reflect on the social, cultural and ethical significance of the texts you read.

* Courses are free for 16-18s. Students aged 19 or over could be charged fees and is subject to a fee assessment. Learners on benefits in the majority of cases courses are also free. Fee assessments are completed at enrolment.

Course Length: 35 Weeks

You’ll need a minimum of five GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including Grade 4 in Maths and Grade 6 in English Language.

The course is assessed through written exams at the end of two years, alongside Non-Exam Assessed coursework components.

English Literature is highly valued by universities and employers. It supports progression to a wide range of degree courses and careers, including journalism, law, teaching, publishing, marketing, and more.
