Counselling and Applied Psychology Higher National Diploma

If you enjoy research and have a passion for helping others, this HNC in Counselling and Applied Psychology is a great choice. You’ll gain the tools to support people in exploring their emotions, lives, and the challenges they face. A minimum of 100 hours of work placement or experience in a counselling setting is required as part of the course.

This specialised course offers a strong foundation for future study and career opportunities in counselling. The course is aligned with professional body frameworks and supports your development as a future practitioner. It also aligns with Column A therapist standards in the SCoPEd framework. You’ll study career-focused units designed to build your professional counselling skills, with one-to-one support throughout. Tuition fees apply to the first year (HNC) and may increase in subsequent years (HND) in line with inflation or government policy changes.

You’ll need 32 UCAS Tariff points and at least four GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including English Language and Maths. Level 2 equivalents are also considered. Mature applicants (aged 21+) with other qualifications or relevant experience are encouraged to apply and may be asked to complete a short task to demonstrate their readiness.
