Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship

An Assistant Accountant Apprentice provides support to internal and external customers and will work predominately either as an assistant accountant within practise or alternatively within the finance function of an organisation. Our advanced qualification within the apprenticeship introduces more detailed financial tasks including maintaining cost accounting records and the preparation of reports and returns. You will also master a range of accounting disciplines from ethical practices for accountants to advanced bookkeeping. The type of jobs could include progression to payroll supervisor, audit trainee and tax assistant.

The Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship is equivalent to two A-level passes. Our Assistant Accountant programme builds the foundations needed for a career in accountancy. The programme help you develop all the skills you will need to work in a modern accounting environment. In addition to this, our level 3 accountant qualification will equip you with all the necessary technical knowledge by embedding the AAT Level 3 qualification as part of the apprenticeship programme. An Assistant Accountant provides support to internal and external customers and will work predominately either as an assistant accountant within practice or alternatively within the finance function of an organisation. Part of their role will involve assisting in the day to day financial activities such as data entry to month end management accounts and/or year-end financial statements. In addition the Assistant Accountant may find themselves involved in regulatory financial requirements such as the completion of VAT returns or assisting in the preparation of tax computations.

* Courses are free for 16-18s. Students aged 19 or over could be charged fees and is subject to a fee assessment. Learners on benefits in the majority of cases courses are also free. Fee assessments are completed at enrolment.

Course Length: Weeks

Individual employers set the selection criteria however, for entry onto this apprenticeship, applicants must have 5 GCSE’s at grade C/4 and above including English and maths.

Assessment is via online unitised examinations and two elements of End Point Assessment, one being the completion of a portfolio of work based evidence and the second a final synoptic exam covering all other units.

Once you have completed the Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship you may consider progression to the Professional Accounting Technician (Level 4) Apprenticeship.

We work with a range of large and small employers that support apprentices through their journey.

The Level 3 apprenticeship covers modules in making provisions for double and irrecoverable debts, reconcililing ledgers with cash book, the importance of professional ethics in the working environment, analysing variances, using spreadsheets to manage and record information in the accounting environment.
