AAT Diploma in Accounting Level 3

The AAT is the UK’s leading qualification and membership body for accounting and finance staff, internationally recognised with a current membership of over 120,000 worldwide. As the second level of AAT Accounting qualification, this course will introduce you to more complex financial accounting tasks.

This course introduces you to more complex financial accounting tasks such as incomplete records, accounting for different types of organisation, the preparation final accounts and accounting for indirect taxation. It also introduces the basic building blocks of Management Accounting, Marginal Costing and Absorption Costing.

In addition to these accounting units you will also study spreadsheets, ethics and Indirect Tax within the accounting profession which will combine with all units studied and be assessed via a synoptic exam.

Students who have studied for the two-year programme have the opportunity to gain 56 UCAS points for the Level 3 AAT Diploma (Distinction grade) plus an additional 56 UCAS points if they achieve a Distinction* in the BTEC L3 Subsidiary Diploma.

* Courses are free for 16-18s. Students aged 19 or over could be charged fees and is subject to a fee assessment. Learners on benefits in the majority of cases courses are also free. Fee assessments are completed at enrolment.

Course Length: 35 Weeks

You must hold AAT Level 2, have a good record of attendance, excellent reference and have achieved a minimum of merit grade in your BTEC Certificate in Business and Personal Finance.

The AAT is assessed by computer-based exams and projects. Upon completion of the computer-based exams you will receive immediate notification of your result and an analysis of your performance on each task.

Students who have successfully completed the Level 3 Diploma in Accounting (Advanced) will be eligible to apply for AAT Associate Bookkeeping membership and achieve professional AATQB status (using AATQB designatory letters after their name). The AAT level 3 qualification will allow you to progress to the AAT level 4 and then subsequently apply for full Technician status once you have provided a portfolio of practical experience from the workplace. Or should you choose to go onto higher education can often allow direct entry to many Accounting degrees.
