Course overview
You’ll study a range of professional practice units through classroom activities and weekly online resources. To complete the qualification, you’ll need to complete 250 hours of placement in an early years setting, helping you apply your learning in real-world environments.
What this course covers
You’ll explore essential topics such as safeguarding, child development, inclusive practice, and promoting healthy lifestyles. You’ll also learn how to support play, care routines, and educational programmes, work in partnership with families and professionals, and help children prepare for school. These units are designed to build your confidence and competence in early years settings.
Entry Requirements
You should be at least 16 years old and have a minimum of four GCSEs at grade 3 (D) or above, including English and Maths. A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required before starting your placement.
Progression Opportunities
This qualification allows you to progress to the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Certificate or Diploma in Childcare and Education (EYE), other Level 3 childcare qualifications, or into roles across the statutory, voluntary, or private sectors.
Delivery And Assessment
All units are internally assessed through a variety of methods, including direct observation in the workplace, written assignments, tasks set by CACHE, and a portfolio of evidence. Some learning outcomes must be assessed in a real work environment.
