The Diploma in Teaching (Further Education and Skills), awarded by the University of Worcester, is a nationally recognised qualification for teaching learners aged 14 and above. What this course covers

In Year 1, you’ll study modules such as Teaching My Subject, Teaching My Students, and Professional Practice (Part 1). In Year 2, you’ll progress to Developing My Curriculum, Developing My Practice, and Professional Practice (Part 2). These modules are designed to build your confidence and competence as a teacher in the Further Education sector.

Entry Requirements

You’ll need a Level 3 qualification or above in the subject you wish to teach. Acceptable qualifications include HND/HNC, BTEC, A Levels, NVQs, Access courses, and international equivalents. You’ll also need GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or Level 2 Functional Skills. T Levels may also be considered.

Progression Opportunities

This qualification prepares you for teaching roles in further education, work-based learning, adult education, community learning, and offender learning. You can also progress to a BA (Hons) in Education Studies or a Master’s level programme, depending on your qualifications.

Delivery And Assessment

You’ll learn through a mix of independent study, classroom teaching, and academic support. Assessment includes written assignments, practical teaching tasks, and reflective practice. You’ll build a portfolio of skills and experiences to support your career and lifelong learning.
