Combined Science GCSE (Trilogy)

Ths is a standalone dual-award GCSE qualification where learners will achieve the equivalent of two GCSE qualifications (part-time study). GCSE Combined Science is a gateway qualification, opening the door to further Science study at Level 3 (A Level equivalent) and beyond.

Course overview

We offer a unique opportunity to re-sit GCSE Combined Science. You study this course for a year, and you will receive 2 GCSE grades. Many Job roles or degree require a minimum of a grade 4 GCSE in Science, so we provide the opportunity to either improve your grade. As these GCSE’s are completed in one year, we require all applicants to undertake a diagnostic assessment in science to choose between Foundation and Higher programme.

What this course covers

Trilogy covers key topics in biology, chemistry, and physics, presented in a clear and logical order to make learning easier. Throughout the course, students develop important scientific skills, with opportunities to build practical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. The content and required practical work match the separate GCSEs in biology, chemistry, and physics, giving teachers flexibility and allowing students to move between courses if needed.

Entry Requirements

You will need 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above including Double Science, English, and Maths. You will need either English or Maths at Grade 4 or above.

Progression Opportunities

GCSE Combined Science is a widely recognised and highly regarded qualification that develops introductory knowledge and scientific skills across the core science subjects. It supports progression to a wide range Level 3 course of both science and non-science pathways.

Delivery And Assessment

The course is assessed through a series of examinations in physics, chemistry, and biology. The overall grade is calculated from the combined exam results and is awarded on a scale from 1 to 9.
