You’ll study two qualifications: the Award in Principles and the Award in Applications. Together, they cover essential scientific knowledge and practical skills. You’ll explore how science supports society, health and the economy, while developing strong lab and investigative techniques.

Entry Requirements
You’ll need four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including Double Science, English and Maths. If you’ve completed a BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Science, you should have achieved a Pass.
Progression Opportunities
After completing this course, you can progress to a Level 3 programme in Applied Science, such as an AAQ or T Level in Laboratory Science. You may also choose to pursue an apprenticeship or seek employment within the science sector.
Delivery And Assessment
Each qualification consists of three internally assessed units and one externally assessed unit. You will complete a combination of assignments and exams to show your knowledge and practical skills. Each assignment is graded as Pass, Merit, or Distinction, and your overall qualification grade is also awarded as Pass, Merit, or Distinction based on the total points from all units.
