Join the Sutton Coldfield Golf Academy and combine your passion for golf with academic study. Scholars receive 10–14 hours of technical golf development each week, including coaching, match play, purposeful work experience, tutorials and academic study tailored to their qualifications on entry.

Course overview

Choose from three academic pathways: Pathway 1 – Vocational Sports Programme with modules focused on the golf and wider sports industry. Pathway 2 – A Level or vocational study in subjects like Business, Geography or Sports Science. Pathway 3 – Level 1 or 2 qualification for those not meeting Level 3 entry requirements. Training takes place at Sutton Coldfield College and Wishaw Golf Club.

Entry Requirements

For Pathways 1 and 2, you’ll need 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and maths. Golf handicap requirements vary: Elite (=10 men / =14 women), Intermediate (10–19 men / 15–30 women), Beginners (=20 men / =30 women).

Progression Opportunities

Progress to higher education, including PGA programmes or university scholarships in the UK or USA. Career options include coaching, sports therapy, fitness, nutrition, or becoming a PGA professional.

Delivery And Assessment

Delivery is split between college and golf facilities, with morning or afternoon blocks to reduce travel. Assessment includes practical portfolios, case studies, reports, presentations and written work. Some units include externally set exams.
