Course overview

You’ll study core topics such as scientific and clinical practices, genetics, safety, person-centred care and understanding the health sector. You’ll also complete a minimum of 315 hours of industry placement to gain real-world experience.

What this course covers

This qualification includes theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and an opportunity to specialise in a specific occupational role within the health sector. Students will study key areas such as healthcare delivery, supporting patient care, and the health and safety protocols essential in clinical environments.

Students are required to complete a minimum of 315 hours in an industry placement with an external employer. These placements offer students the opportunity to apply their classroom learning in real-world settings. Industry placements will allow students to develop skills and behaviours that are crucial for skilled employment in their chosen health profession.

Additionally, our clinical skills hospital ward offers students the chance to work in a simulated hospital environment, developing essential clinical and practical skills under expert supervision.

Entry Requirements

At least 5 GCSEs at minimum of grade 4 with English Language, Maths and Science at grade 5.

Progression Opportunities

Progress to university, further education or employment in healthcare roles such as nursing, midwifery, health support or clinical practice.

Delivery And Assessment

Year 1:

Two Written Examinations (CORE)
The core component includes two written exams to test students’ understanding of the fundamental concepts of healthcare, such as anatomy and physiology, infection control, and patient care.

Employer Set Project (ESP)
This component provides students with the opportunity to work on a real-world health-related project set by an employer. It helps bridge the gap between academic learning and practical application, allowing students to solve problems and demonstrate their technical capabilities in a work-based context.

Year 2: Occupational Specialism Component

In this specialism, students will focus on the practical aspects of supporting nursing teams in the care of adults. They will gain insights into patient assessment, assisting with personal care, and maintaining professional and ethical standards in healthcare settings. This includes a case study assessment, two practical activities assessments and a professional discussion

Upon completion of the T Level in Health, students will be well-prepared to progress into:

• Skilled employment within the healthcare sector, such as healthcare assistant roles, nursing support, or administrative positions.
• Higher education in fields such as nursing, paramedicine, and public health.
• Higher-level apprenticeships that offer advanced training and development in healthcare specialisms.

• PO3: Undertake a range of physiological measurements

Supporting the Adult Nursing Team:

• PO1: Assist the adult nursing team with clinical tasks
