Course overview
You’ll develop skills in academic writing, scientific research, and personal development. Optional units cover key concepts in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, helping you build confidence and knowledge for progression to Level 3 study.
What this course covers
The course includes Personal and Social Development units, covering research projects, time management, and understanding plagiarism, as well as Core Science units, introducing physics, chemistry, and biology through basic concepts and practical activities.
Entry Requirements
You’ll need a grade 3 in GCSE English and Maths and be actively working towards grade 4. No formal science qualifications are required, but an interest in science is essential and will be assessed at interview. Applicants will also complete an initial assessment in English and Maths.
Progression Opportunities
Progress to a 1-year Access to Higher Education course, designed to prepare you for university. You could go on to study subjects like Physiotherapy, Radiography, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Nursing, Midwifery, and more.
Delivery And Assessment
Delivered over 1.5 days per week from September to mid-June. Assessment is through a portfolio of evidence, internally assessed and verified by the centre, and externally verified by Ascentis.
