Our course offer ranges from Entry level 1– Level 2. We offer functional skills and GCSE. Functional Skills Maths focuses on practical mathematical skills needed for everyday life, work, and further study. It emphasizes problem-solving in real-world contexts. GCSE Maths provides a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts and prepares students for further
education and careers requiring strong numeracy.
What this course covers
The Functional skills content includes how the skills below can be used to support your every day maths skills such as managing your money, carrying out home improvements, reading and interpreting information that might come to your in the news or linked to your health. You will be developing skills below:

- Whole numbers, decimals, fractions, percentages
- Ratio and proportion
- Positive and negative numbers
2. Measure, Shape & Space
- Units of measure
- Perimeter, area, volume
- Time and money calculations
3. Handling Data
- Collecting and interpreting data
- Charts, tables, graphs
- Averages and probability
The GCSE content includes:
1 . Number

- Standard form, surds
2. Algebra
- Expressions, equations, sequences

Entry Requirements
Functional Skills There are no official entry requirements for this course but you will be asked to complete an initial assessment to assess your starting point so that we can identify the most suitable level and course for you GCSE You will be required to be working at Level 2 based on our initial assessment. Please be aware that courses do fill up quickly, therefore spaces may be limited and will depend on your initial assessment. Keep an eye on our website for the exact dates for open days and enrolment for each site. When you come to enrol, please bring any
English and maths GCSE or Functional Skills qualifications you have.
Progression Opportunities
The maths courses we offer enable you to build your skills through functional skills and work towards the GCSE maths qualification. Developing your maths skills enables you to open doors to other qualifications within the college and employment.
Delivery And Assessment
Delivery We have daytime and some evening courses. The course delivery is face to face with additional homework through online platforms. Please enquire when you visit us on open day or during enrolment. Functional skills assessment 1 exam compromising of calculator and non-calculator questions. GCSE assessment Consists of three papers. 1 x non-calculator paper and 2 x calculator papers which will take place in the summer.
