Course overview

The Level 2 T Level Foundation in Digital & IT Skills is a one-year course designed to help you progress to Level 3 digital and technology programmes. It is ideal if you want to develop your IT knowledge while working towards achieving a Grade 4 in English and/or Mathematics.

During the course, you’ll build essential digital skills and gain an introduction to areas such as programming, logical thinking and cybersecurity. You’ll also develop study skills, confidence and professional behaviours that will prepare you for higher-level study and future careers in the digital sector.

What this course covers

Throughout the course, you will develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to progress to Level 3 programmes, including:

  • Gateway Qualifications Level 2 Certificate in Digital and IT Skills
  • Programming and logical thinking skills
  • Cybersecurity fundamentals
  • Work experience through live industry-style projects
  • GCSE English and/or Mathematics (if required)

You’ll gain practical experience through project-based learning that reflects real digital and IT environments.

Entry Requirements

You will need a minimum of four GCSEs at Grade 3 or above, including English and Maths.

Progression Opportunities

After completing this course, you can progress to Level 3 digital programmes, including the T Level in Digital Production, Design and Development or the Level 3 Certificate in Social Media and Infrastructure.

This course helps you build the foundation skills needed for further study and future careers in the growing digital and technology sector.

Delivery And Assessment

The course is delivered through face-to-face teaching at college, supported by practical activities and project-based learning.

Assessment includes homework tasks, class activities and internally assessed coursework. If required, you will also complete externally assessed GCSE examinations in English and/or Maths.
