Course overview
The Pearson AAQ Level 3 in Computing is a career-focused qualification designed for students who want to progress into Higher Education, apprenticeships or employment in the digital and technology sector. The course combines technical knowledge with practical learning, helping you understand how computing is used in real-world environments.
You’ll develop strong problem-solving and programming skills while exploring areas such as computer systems, data management and cyber security. Through applied projects and industry-relevant tasks, you’ll gain practical experience and build the professional skills needed for further study or a career in the digital industry.
Course details
You will typically need five GCSEs at Grade 5 or above, including:
- English
- Mathematics
You should also have a strong interest in computing and problem solving. A successful interview may be required as part of the application process.
The course is delivered through face-to-face teaching at college with a strong focus on practical learning and project-based activities.
Assessment is mainly coursework-based and may include practical assignments, written reports, presentations and project portfolios that demonstrate your technical skills and understanding.
After completing this course, you could progress to Higher Education programmes such as Computing, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cyber Security or related digital degrees.
The qualification also supports progression to higher or degree apprenticeships, or entry-level roles such as IT support technician, junior developer, digital technician or systems analyst assistant.
