ESOL for Teaching Assistants – supporting in an ESOL context
This course is for learners (aged 19 +): whose first language is not English whose level of English and maths is a minimum of Entry 3 who may have experience of working in the education sector in another country but lack the qualifications/level of English to be able to find work immediately
Course overview
- An insight into ESOL in Further Education in the UK
- A basic understanding of how to support ESOL learners
- An understanding of some of the jobs available supporting ESOL in the FE sector
- An understanding of some of the skills needed to work in the industry
- A greater understanding of some of the sector-specific English terminology
- Improved vocationally relevant communication skills
- Work experience supporting in an ESOL class
What this course covers
Entry Requirements
A recent qualification in Entry 3 English/ESOL and Maths or an initial assessment outcome of Entry 3 in English and maths.
