You’ll build strong reading, writing, and speaking skills in a supportive environment, with the option to choose Functional Skills for practical, everyday English or GCSE English Language to expand your options for study, work, and beyond.

All of our courses help you to improve your skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening. We offer Functional Skills courses from Entry 3 to Level 2, as well as GCSE. Each Functional Skills course includes a complementary Digital Skills course, equipping you with essential tools for the digital future. The course you will be offered will depend on your previous qualifications and an initial assessment.

Our GCSE and Functional Skills English courses are suitable for learners that speak English as their first language or are fludent speakers, readers and writers.

Functional Skills English (Entry 3 – Level 2)

This course is ideal for fluent English speakers who want to improve their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. It’s designed to build confidence in practical, real-life situations – perfect for work, study, or day-to-day life. Alongside your English course, you’ll also take part in a Digital Skills Development programme. This will help you build essential digital skills for everyday life, further study, and the modern workplace.

GCSE English Language

This course is aimed at learners who have recently taken GCSE English Language and are aiming to improve a grade 3 (D) to a grade 4 (C) or higher, or those who have just passed a Functional Skill level 2. It’s a great opportunity to enhance your qualifications and open up future study or employment options.

Entry Requirements

Everyone is welcome, and there are no formal entry requirements. You’ll meet with an advisor who will help place you on the course that best suits your needs.

To help us place you on the right course, we ask all applicants to provide evidence of any GCSE or Functional Skills qualifications already achieved. You will also be required to complete an initial assessment.

This includes:

  • An interview
  • An online skills assessment
  • A short free-writing task

We’ll use this information to ensure you’re enrolled on the course that best matches your current abilities and learning goals.
