Course overview

Take control of your next step.These courses are designed for adult learners who want to move forward — whether that means progressing at work, changing careers, or returning to education with confidence. You’ll build strong reading, writing, and speaking skills in a supportive environment, with the option to choose Functional Skills for practical, everyday English or GCSE English Language to expand your options for study, work, and beyond.

BMet is here to help you strengthen and develop your English skills, build your confidence and help you unlock new opportunities, whether it’s to help find a job or to continue on your path for further learning. All of our courses help you to improve your skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening. We offer Functional Skills courses from Entry 3 to Level 2, as well as GCSE. Each Functional Skills course includes a complementary Digital Skills course, equipping you with essential tools for the digital future. The course you will be offered will depend on your previous qualifications and an initial assessment.

Our GCSE and Functional Skills English courses are suitable for learners that speak English as their first language or are fludent speakers, readers and writers.

Course details

Everyone is welcome, and there are no formal entry requirements. You’ll meet with an advisor who will help place you on the course that best suits your needs.

To help us place you on the right course, we ask all applicants to provide evidence of any GCSE or Functional Skills qualifications already achieved. You will also be required to complete an initial assessment.

This includes:

  • An interview
  • An online skills assessment
  • A short free-writing task

We’ll use this information to ensure you’re enrolled on the course that best matches your current abilities and learning goals.
