Digital Software Development T Level
Course overview
You’ll learn how to design, develop, test and maintain software solutions using modern development practices. Along the way, you’ll build strong programming and problem-solving skills and gain a clear understanding of how software is created in professional environments. A T Level is equivalent to three A Levels and is highly valued by universities and employers across the digital and technology sectors.
A key part of your T Level is a minimum 315-hour industry placement.
You’ll work with a real employer in a professional software development environment, applying your skills to live projects. This gives you valuable experience, builds your confidence, and strengthens your CV before you progress to employment or further study.
Course details
You will need a minimum of five GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including:
- English (Grade 4 or above)
- Mathematics (Grade 5 or above)
The course is delivered through face-to-face teaching at college, combined with your industry placement.
You will be assessed through:
- Externally examined core components
- An employer-set project
- Occupational specialism assessments
Assessment is designed to test both your technical understanding and your ability to apply skills in practical scenarios.
On successful completion, you could progress to:
- Employment as a Junior or Trainee Software Developer
- Higher or Degree Apprenticeships
- Higher Education, including degrees in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related digital subjects
