Adult into Engineering (AME) Diploma Level 3

Thinking about university or a higher-level apprenticeship? This one-year Engineering course is designed for adults aged 19+ who want to gain the qualifications needed to take that next step. Equivalent to two A-levels, it’s a great route into higher education or employment.

Course overview

You’ll explore both mechanical and electrical/electronic engineering through a range of practical and theory-based units. From health and safety to engineering design, you’ll build the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the sector.

What this course covers

Entry Requirements

You’ll need at least four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including Maths and English, or a Level 2 Diploma in Engineering (Merit or Distinction). Relevant industry experience may also be considered. A maths and English diagnostic will help us assess your suitability.

Progression Opportunities

After completing the course, you could progress to a Level 4 HNC in General Engineering, apply for a university degree programme, or start a higher-level apprenticeship.

Delivery And Assessment

The course is assessed through coursework and in-class assessments. All assessments are internal. You’ll carry out research, analysis, evaluation and mathematical calculations. Each unit is graded Pass, Merit or Distinction. You’ll need to bring notebooks, pens/pencils, a scientific calculator, and drawing equipment (mobile phone calculators aren’t allowed).
