BMet supports a trio of college-focused awareness dates in one week!

BMet is marking a major week in the education calendar this March by supporting three national awareness campaigns on social media across its colleges.

Throughout Love Our Colleges Week, National Careers Week and International Women’s Day, students and staff at James Watt College, Matthew Boulton College and Sutton Coldfield College will be sharing stories, celebrating success and highlighting the opportunities available through Further Education.

Love Our Colleges Week (2–6 March) recognises the impact colleges have in their communities and across the wider economy. This year’s theme, “Skills for All,” echoes BMet’s commitment to widening access to education and supporting learners into employment.

Running alongside this, National Careers Week (2–7 March) promotes informed career choices for young people and adults. BMet will use the week to showcase student progression journeys, skills development and the range of vocational, higher education and adult learning routes available.

The activity culminates in International Women’s Day on 8 March, a global celebration of women’s achievements. The college will spotlight female learners and staff, recognising their contributions across curriculum areas and industries. The theme this year is “Give to Gain.”

Pat Carvalho, Principal and CEO at BMet, said: “These national awareness weeks provide an important opportunity to highlight the work taking place across our colleges every day. We are proud to support learners at every stage of their journey and to help them develop the skills, confidence and ambition needed to succeed.”

Across the week, BMet will share student case studies, learner voice features and campus-based activity on its digital channels, reinforcing its commitment to empowering individuals through education and employment.

Examples of content that will be showcased during the week include:

  • Media students sharing their experiences at college, alongside them acquiring a new Media Studio.
  • Vox pops of students across BMet’s sites voicing their student journeys.
  • Case studies linked to BMet’s apprenticeship, higher education and adult offer.

Pat Carvalho, Principal and CEO at BMet said: “It is fantastic for the college to be able to support these awareness events as they shine a light on the work that is being undertaken across Further Education.

“In particular, it is a great opportunity to inform and educate our current students, alongside future learners, about the scope of career pathways and rewarding employment journeys available to them at BMet, designed to suit a variety of preferences and needs.”

The week is an opportunity todiscover the inspiring journeys of BMet students. Their success stories are testaments to the long-term benefits of investing in the college’s continuing professional development.
