Student Enrichment

BMet offers a wide range of student enrichment activities that give you a great chance to try something new alongside your main studies. Each of the three colleges has its own designated Student Enrichment Officer, whose primary role is to make sure that your time at the college is as exciting and enriching as possible, while advocating for the views of the student body.

Our Student Enrichment Officers will help you gain experiences outside of your regular college lessons, including everything from gigs and performances, sports groups and societies, to volunteering and learning opportunities to support your UCAS entry.

If you have ideas for enrichment or societies, you can discuss these with the Enrichment Officer at your college. Some of the clubs currently on offer include:

AV Club

A weekly club where students can watch film/television shows of their choice.

ESports

Players can either play one-on-one against one another (in games like FIFA and Street Fighter), or in teams.

Five-a-Side Football

A weekly two hour slot for students to play football casually.

LGBT+ Society

Weekly meet up group to discuss matters surrounding the LGBT community.

Student Newspaper “The Student”

An ongoing student publication, which aims to publish two-three papers a year.

BMet is also looking for students to help out on Open Events. This is a great way to introduce others to what life is like at college and to speak to external visitors.

Student Voice

BMet has lots of ways for you to have your say about things you like and things you would like to see changed.

  • We encourage students to become Learner Representatives for their course, offering a chance for students to share their views and ideas with fellow students and their Head of College.
  • We take part in the BIG Teaching and Learning Survey every year and all the results are shared with students.
  • We also conduct a number of focus groups where we ask for your views on things like how best our Library Service can support you.
  • Throughout the year we have a range of touch points where you can have your say in person, by phone or by social media and your voice will make change happen. These include formal meetings where your Student Voice Representatives, from departments and from each college meet with their Head of College to share feedback. You can also informally feedback views through your Personal Tutor and through your Enrichment Officer.
