UAL Architecture Diploma Level 3
Course overview
Focus on designing imaginative and highly conceptual structures—from awe-inspiring towers and future cities to underground habitats and transport systems. Your work could be applied to architecture, games design, film, theatre and more. You’ll develop virtual and physical model-making skills, work on live briefs with architects and designers, and gain professional insight into the creative industries. On completion, you’ll achieve a UAL Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design and Communication.
Course details
You’ll need a minimum of four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and maths. You’ll also need to present a portfolio of creative work at interview, which can include sketchbooks and coursework. Studying a creative subject at GCSE is not required.
This course is 100% coursework. You’ll produce work in 2D, 3D and time-based media, including sketchbooks, design sheets, research projects, evidence folders and photographs documenting your creative process.
Progress to higher education or employment in roles such as architect, interior designer, set designer, jewellery designer or furniture designer.
Year 1: Unit 1 – The Creative Process, Unit 2 – Developing Creative Practice, Unit 3 – Responding to a Set Brief. Year 2: Unit 4 – Researching Specialist Industry Practice, Unit 5 – Specialist Technical Skills Development, Unit 6 – Specialist Creative Outcome.
