Course overview
This Level 3 Games Design course is ideal if you’re interested in how games are created and want to develop your own ideas into playable experiences. You’ll explore the full games design process, from initial concepts through to development and testing.
The course combines creative design with technical skills, helping you understand how storytelling, gameplay, art and technology come together in the games industry. You’ll build a portfolio of work that prepares you for further study or entry-level roles in the creative digital sector.
Course details
You will typically need four GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including English. A strong interest in games, design or digital media is recommended.
The course is delivered through practical workshops, project-based learning and creative studio sessions. Assessment is mainly coursework-based and includes design projects, development work and a final portfolio.
After completing this course, you could progress to Higher Education in Games Design, Game Development, Digital Media or related subjects.
You may also move into entry-level roles within the creative industries or continue developing your skills through apprenticeships.
