Birmingham Panthers Netball Academy
Course overview
You’ll receive 10–14 hours of netball-specific training and match play each week, alongside tutorials, purposeful work experience, and English or Maths (if required). You’ll also study an academic or vocational course. Options include A Levels (e.g. Psychology, Media, Law) or vocational subjects such as Sport, Business, Health and Social Care, and Performing Arts. Training takes place at Sutton Coldfield College.
Course details
You’ll need to meet the GCSE entry requirements for your chosen academic or vocational course. If you haven’t achieved a grade 4 in English or Maths, you’ll be required to retake them. Students without the qualifications for a Level 3 course can still join the netball programme while studying at Level 1 or 2.

On completion of a Level 2 programme of study you have the opportunity to progress onto either the Level 3 Extended Certificate or Level 3 Foundation Diploma.
On completion of a Level 3 programme of study you have the opportunity to progress onto the second year of the programme if you have a) achieved and b) attended well. Alternatively, you may like to consider a career or apprenticeship within the sport and leisure industry.
Scholars who have progressed onto the second year programme use the course to gain entry to Higher Education; with many going into careers in teaching, coaching, sports therapy, sports analysis, fitness or nutrition.
