Applied Science Level 3
Course overview
You’ll study biology, chemistry and physics while developing advanced practical lab skills and scientific investigation techniques. You’ll also strengthen your numeracy skills and explore topics like the human body, forensic science, and astronomy. The course includes 13 units spread across two years, covering both core principles and specialist applications.
Course details
You’ll need four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including Dual Award Science and either English or Maths (with at least a grade 3 in the other). A Level 2 Applied Science qualification is also accepted as an equivalent to GCSE Science.
You’ll be assessed through a mix of practical work, assignments and exams. This balanced approach helps you apply your learning in real-world contexts.
After your first year, you can progress to the Diploma or Extended Diploma. You’ll be well-prepared for university courses or our Level 4 HNC in Applied Science (Biology). The course also supports entry into science-related apprenticeships and careers.
