Course overview
The course is split into three parts: Part 1 introduces the principles of art and design practice; Part 2 deepens your knowledge and skills in your chosen area; Part 3 allows you to plan and deliver a personal project. You’ll develop independence, creativity and a professional portfolio ready for university. This course is also open to adult learners. On completion, you’ll achieve a UAL Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design.
What this course covers
Entry Requirements
You’ll need 2 A Levels (preferably one in an art-related subject) or a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design. You’ll also need to present a portfolio of artwork at interview.
Progression Opportunities
Progress to university to study a full honours degree or HND, either at BMet or other institutions.
Delivery And Assessment
Assessment takes place at three points during the year through portfolio briefs, group critiques and an essay. You’ll produce a portfolio and exhibit your final project in an end-of-year show. You’ll also keep a reflective journal linking your work to contemporary art and design practice.
