Politics A Level

Interested in how society works and decisions are made? A Level Politics explores political and social issues, current affairs, and the workings of UK democracy. You’ll gain a critical understanding of political ideologies, parties, and systems, and how they shape the world around us.

In Year 1, you’ll study British politics, including democracy, political parties, and the UK government. In Year 2, you’ll explore global politics and political ideas, analysing international systems and ideologies. The course encourages critical thinking and debate.

* Courses are free for 16-18s. Students aged 19 or over could be charged fees and is subject to a fee assessment. Learners on benefits in the majority of cases courses are also free. Fee assessments are completed at enrolment.

Course Length: 35 Weeks

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including GCSE Maths at grade 4 and GCSE English Language at grade 5.

This is a two-year course assessed entirely by written exams at the end of the second year.

Politics is highly valued by universities and supports careers in journalism, law, teaching, public service, management, and social work.
