Health and Social Care Leaders join forces with BMet to shape future workforce
Recognising health and social care as a priority sector for the region, BMet has launched a Health and Social Care Employer Advisory Board.
The new board will help shape the future workforce and ensure learners develop the skills employers need.
The board brings together leading employers and sector specialists from across Birmingham and the wider region to support workforce development, inform future skills needs and strengthen opportunities for learners.
Through collaboration with employers, BMet aims to ensure its curriculum reflects industry needs.
Members include representatives from Focus Birmingham, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, Sense, Trinity Day Care and Calidus Care Consultancy Limited, alongside senior leaders from BMet.
The vision of the Health and Social Care Employer Advisory Board is to strengthen collaboration between education and industry, helping to develop a future-ready workforce while ensuring learners gain the skills, experience and opportunities needed to succeed in the sector.
By working in partnership, the board will help shape training provision, support workforce development and create a strong pipeline of future talent for health and social care employers across the region.
Key priorities identified by the board include:

- Devising ways to upskill employees in the workforce
- Supporting organisational recruitment needs
- Curriculum enrichment and alignment with industry needs
- Work placements, apprenticeships and employability initiatives
