WORK IT

Work experience is one of the best ways to build confidence, boost your CV and discover the career that’s right for you. It helps you develop real skills, make connections and stand out when applying for jobs.

That’s why we created Work it — our dedicated programme linking you with local employers to give you the chance to shine.

WHAT TO EXPECT

If you’re on a vocational course, you’ll complete around 35 hours of work experience per year. This could include a short placement with an  employer, or an industry placement of at least 315 hours for a deeper dive into your chosen career.

Whatever your level of study, we’ll support you to find the right opportunity.

HOW WE SUPPORT YOU

Our Work Placement Coordinators will guide you through every stage. We’ll connect you with employers and help you secure the right placement. If you’re aiming for an Industry Placement, our expert staff will work with you to make it happen.

WHY IT MATTERS

Build communication and teamwork skills

Work experience helps you build essential communication and teamwork skills by working alongside colleagues, collaborating on tasks, and interacting with customers or clients.

Explore careers in a sector you're passionate about

Work experience gives you the opportunity to explore careers in a sector you’re passionate about, allowing you to see first-hand what day-to-day work involves and what skills are needed to succeed.

Prepare for the world of work with confidence
