I'M 16+ AND ALREADY HAVE AN EMPLOYER

Brilliant! Call us on 0121 827 7093 or email training@bmet.ac.uk. We’ll speak with your employer and set everything up so you can get started.

That’s fine! Join one of our Apprenticeship Information Events to meet our teams, explore opportunities, and get advice for when you’re ready.

 

FINDING AN EMPLOYER

Top Tips

Ask around – talk to family and friends; many apprenticeships are secured through personal connections.

Look local – research nearby businesses, contact them directly, and share your CV/cover letter.

Stay alert – keep an ear out for opportunities in everyday life and be proactive in introducing yourself.

What To Say

Apprenticeships are government-funded, reducing training costs.

Apprentices earn a training wage, making it more affordable for businesses.

Apprentices bring fresh skills and knowledge from college into the workplace.

Hiring an apprentice helps businesses support their local community.

Employer Requirements

Pay at least the National Minimum Wage for apprentices.

Commit to the full length of the programme (e.g. 13–24 months).

Provide ongoing support and supervision in the workplace.

Ensure the role meets the apprenticeship requirements.

Offer at least 30 hours per week, including college time.
