Course overview
You’ll study how laws are made and passed in Parliament, police powers, criminal and civil courts, and the European courts. You’ll explore real-life cases, understand how offences are prosecuted, and examine the roles of judges, solicitors, barristers, magistrates, and juries. In Year 2, you’ll study tort law and choose between human rights or the nature of law in society.
Course details
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including GCSE Maths at grade 4 and GCSE English Language at grade 5.
This two-year course, through the exam board: OCR, is entirely assessed by written examination at the end of two years of study, covering all content covered over the duration of
study.
Many students progress to university to study Law, leading to careers in the legal system, teaching, policing, or the prison service. The course also develops analytical and problem-solving skills that are valuable across many professions.
