Health Science Professions – Online (Access to HE)

This course is delivered online, providing a flexible option for learners balancing study with work or other commitments.

Access to Higher Education Diploma (Health Science Professions pathway), awarded by Skills and Education Group (SEG).

Successful completion of the Access to Higher Education Diploma can provide progression to a range of health-related degree programmes at university.

Progression routes include degrees leading to careers in:

• Wider health science degree pathways

Progression is subject to the individual entry requirements of each university and degree programme.

You will study a range of graded academic units covering:

Human Biology and Health Science

Explore cell structure and function and the human body systems, including the nervous, endocrine and musculoskeletal systems. You will also study infection and immunity, as well as the causes and control of disease.

Professional Practice in Health

Develop your understanding of professional behaviours in healthcare, equality, diversity and inclusion in healthcare settings, professionalism and multidisciplinary team working. You will also explore health promotion and communication in healthcare.

Psychological, Social and Public Health Perspectives

Explore mental health and psychological perspectives, as well as poverty and its impact on health. You will also consider wider social factors influencing health and wellbeing.

Alongside these academic units, you will develop essential study, research and academic writing skills to prepare you for Higher Education.
