Our Adult ESOL Study Programme is designed for learners aged 19+ who want to improve their English and build skills for life, work, or further study. Classes are available at Matthew Boulton and James Watt Colleges, with daytime and evening options to suit your schedule.

Course overview

You’ll improve your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, while also developing teamwork, digital skills, and knowledge of life in the UK. You can also choose to study maths and vocational subjects alongside your ESOL course, depending on your level and interests.

Everyone is welcome, and there are no formal entry requirements. You’ll meet with an advisor who will help place you on the right course for your level and goals.

Progression Opportunities

You can progress to higher-level ESOL courses, Functional Skills, vocational qualifications, or apprenticeships. Your tutor will support you in identifying the best next step for your goals.

Delivery And Assessment

You’ll be assessed through formal exams or ongoing assessments depending on your level. Assessments include Reading, Writing, and Speaking & Listening.
