Hospitality students serving up to Kidderminster community stars

Local heroes will enjoy a five star culinary experience at the Kidderminster Community Awards thanks to 20 Kidderminster Academy students.

The students are cooking and serving canapes to over 100 nominees and guests attending the celebratory event at the Town Hall on Thursday (27th September).

The celebratory dinner is in recognition of and to reward individuals, projects, groups and organisations whose dedication and commitment has improved the lives and well-being of local Kidderminster residents.

This is the second year the same batch of students have catered for the awards ceremony and they insist they feel no extra pressure as a result.

“The students know they must produce food of the same high standard as the previous ceremony and are fine with this,” said Academy Lecturer, David Price. “They’re keen to show how much they admire these people for the amazing work they have done for others. They see them as role models.”

The menu will include quail scotch eggs, skewered chicken and sushi along with chocolate truffles and caramel shortcake.

Town Clerk at the Council, Tony Beirne commented: “We’re delighted to have the students’ support again during one of the highlights of our year.

“There was lots of praise for their food and service last year and we are confident the students will continue to make the college proud and deliver an excellent evening for all our guests.”
