GCSE re-sit and restart success for BMet students

GCSE students at BMet have received good news today after collecting their results.

Over 650 students who left school without an English GCSE have now achieved a high pass rate in English Language while nearly 400 students gained an A*-C grade in Maths.

“Many of our students have come to us without a GCSE English or maths pass and we have helped them achieve great grades and go on to university, higher level courses, employment or start an apprenticeship,” said Andrew Cleaves, Principal and Chief Executive at BMet. “These results prove that whatever learning stage you are at, it’s never too late for you to gain your GCSEs and follow career ambitions.

“Well done to our students and staff for everything they’ve achieved this year.”

Kiran Preet Multani has fully secured her university place with a grade 7 in English Language and a C in maths. The 19-year-old business studies student at Matthew Boulton College said: “Getting into uni was what motivated me through my classes – now it’s actually happening!”

Kiran Preet who will be reading law at Birmingham City University continued: “This has been a great college to come to. Everyone’s been really friendly and supportive.”
Felicia Msimango was also jumping for joy with a grade 6 in English Literature and C in maths. “I knew that I could rely on my teachers for help, but it was still down to me to keep making the effort. This is what made me pass my GCSEs. I’m so happy to be in this position now.”

The 20-year-old who completed an Access Health and Social Care course at Matthew Boulton College is taking a year out before applying for adult nursing courses at university.
